Design Services

  1. Madcatdesigns.net designs eBook covers and print book covers. A 50% fee is paid when you place the order.

  2. eBook cover design service: You are paying for the design of one complete eBook cover design, provided as a high-resolution jpeg file to use for your eBook.

  3. Print cover design service: You are paying for the design of one complete paperback print cover, provided as a high-resolution print-ready PDF file, and laid out according to one template provided by KDP, Lulu, Ingram Spark, or your own printing company. Note: The fee includes one print-ready file for only one service provider. Additional files will incur additional costs.

  4. In order to design your cover, we purchase the license for royalty-free stock used specifically to design your cover. Images used to design your cover may not be used in any other way.

The Design Process

  1. We start off with the eBook/front cover. We provide one first draft upfront.

  2. If you want changes to the first draft, we’ll do them to the best of our ability in a reasonable time.

  3. If you really don’t like the first draft, then we will design at least one new draft option, although it may be more at our discretion. If you’re still not happy with either of the drafts created so far, we may, at our sole discretion, decide to cancel the project and refund all fees you have already paid.

  4. Once you’ve decided to go with one of the drafts, and we have started finalizing or making changes to that draft, the earlier drafts/concepts are no longer available to be used.

  5. Once you have selected a concept to move forward with, we will make as many changes as necessary for that cover, within reason. We want you to be happy with the final cover, but if we cannot do what you are looking for we reserve the right to refund all fees you’ve paid up to that point.

What does within reason mean?

  1. We will do the following changes once the draft is approved: changing text placement and/or fonts, moving and resizing individual elements and changing colors.

Approval and your License

  1. When the eBook cover is approved and once final payment is received, we will send you the final high-res eBook cover/file.

  2. Once you have your high-res file, you have exclusive license to use the final cover design artwork for marketing materials. You may not alter the cover design in any way, unless those alterations have been approved in writing by Madcatdesigns.net.

  3. You are not granted any rights to use any of the earlier drafts in any way whatsoever. Early drafts are the copyright of Mad Cat Designs.

  4. Upon approval of the cover, you agree that you are satisfied with it as it is, even if it includes errors or inconsistencies. Madcatdesigns.net is not liable for any penalties, errors or losses of any kind that may arise from the use of your cover.

Now that the eBook cover is done, let’s move on to the print cover (if applicable).

  1. The print cover is your approved eBook cover. We will then start the design of a spine and back cover. In order for us to start this part of the process, please provide the following information:

    • The final trim size

    • The final page count

    • All the text and other information you would like on the back cover

    • The printer you are using (usually KDP, Lulu, Ingram Spark or Lightning Source)

    • The paper color you are using

    • If you are not using a provided ISBN (KDP), you will need to provide one.

    • If you are using your own printer, you will need to provide us with a template.

  2. We will provide you with one print cover draft, and will make reasonable changes until you are happy.

  3. When the print cover is approved and once final payment is received, we will send you the final high-res print ready file in the form of a CMYK PDF.

  4. You will be responsible for distributing this print ready file to your printer.

  5. You will be responsible for obtaining a printed proof of your final print cover.

  6. Madcatdesigns.net is not liable for any errors or losses of any kind that may arise from the printing of your cover.

  7. Once you approve the print cover, you agree that you are satisfied with it as it is, even if it includes errors or inconsistencies. Madcatdesigns.net is not liable for any penalties, errors or losses of any kind that may arise from the use of your cover.

Cancellation

  1. Madcatdesigns.net reserves the right to cancel a project at any time and refund all fees paid up to that point.

  2. If you want to cancel the project, Madcatdesigns.net will provide a full refund of all fees paid up to that point, provided you have paid a deposit and you have not selected a draft to move forward with.

  3. If you wish to cancel the project after you have selected an initial draft, you agree to forfeit the cover design deposit already paid.

  4. If you wish to cancel your project after the final eBook cover/front cover has been approved, you will forfeit 100% of the eBook cover design fee.

  5. In the case of any cancellation from any party, all designs already created by Madcatdesigns.net, and sent to the client, must be destroyed by the client. The client retains no rights to any designs whatsoever.

  1. All correspondence from and to Mad Cat Designs will be via e-mail Madcatbookcovers@gmail.com or the website Madcatdesigns.net. There are no exceptions.
